Answer-engine crawlers are not blocked
What the source requires
Answer engines use named user agents. If the origin refuses them, the site cannot be cited as a source.
Why this is hard to satisfy
A security plug-in or host default returns 403 to those agents, and nothing surfaces it — the practice simply disappears from AI answers.
What we do about it
Direct request per named agent, with the response code recorded. This is the most demonstrable failure of this type.
